The women's national team are preparing for friendly matches in America
Yesterday, the women's Russian national team held a friendly match in Novogorsk against FSO Hockey Moscow 2001. Russia's women were given a real test, and they eventually came through 4:3. However, in a special penalty shootout held after the game, they lost to Moscow 0:1.
Remember that between the 24th and 30th of September, the girls will play friendly matches against NWHL clubs.
Alexei Chistyakov, Russian women's national team head coach:
- This was our first match with this roster. A lot of new players have arrived since last season, and as a result, we found it tough going. We got the result, but we have a lot of tactical issues to work over. We will keep preparing for our trip to America.
Two lines are ready, they did a good job today. However, the third and fourth lines have to do better, and we are searching for solutions. We have 30 national team candidates, and we will look at more of them during the campaign. The strongest players will be included in the roster.
